The Covid 19 crisis has meant that Fota Wildlife Park had to temporarily close its gates to the public until further notice. Fota is a non-profit organisation and is also a registered conservation charity and a large portion of its income comes from daily visitors, annual pass holder sales and gift shop revenue.
The operational running costs at Fota are approximately €380,000 a month. Feeding and veterinary care for the 135 species also continues and the animals in the park receive the same excellent level of care they receive year-round regardless of whether the Park is open or closed- so if you would like to make a donation today to go towards the feeding bill and operational costs you can do so here.
The overall impact of the Covid-19 pandemic was a loss of 18% in visitor numbers down to 385,000, visitor income was also down 17% in 2020 compared to 2019.
We would like to thank you for your support – every donation makes a difference.
